St Canice’s Catholic School Choir & Ensemble

Located in the beautiful Blue Mountains, Our Lady of the Nativity Primary School, Lawson, and St Canice’s Primary School, Katoomba, are small, coeducational Catholic primary schools where music plays a very important role. Both schools share the same whole school music teacher, Kristina Frazer (a jazz singer and performer in her own right), where specialist music training is given to every child each week. Kristina will be conducting the combined school choir (students from year 1-6 from both schools) who will share their love of song at Katoomba Live and Local.

Over the last 2 years at St Canice’s, the Stage 2 children (8-10 year olds) have all had the exciting opportunity to learn violin, cello or double bass in a class group taught by Kristina Frazer, as part of The String Things Orchestral Program developed by, Blue Mountains-based teacher and musician, Phil Rooke. If the students show special interest, they are invited to join the St Canice’s String Ensemble. The string ensemble has performed at many notable events, and are thrilled to perform at Katoomba Live and Local, conducted by Phil Rooke.

A school choir led by local jazz vocalist, Kristina Fraser.
