A guitar-toting, baguette-munching, beret-wearing platypus – the mascot for this choir – says it all… un peu dingue (a bit different) and a lot of joie de vivre.
Founder and conductor Jocelyn Moen is a versatile singer-songwriter whose passion for French chansons began with her years busking a cappella in Paris. There she found her voice and began writing the quirky observational songs that VOILA! loves to sing.
Although VOILA! sing in French, they celebrate their Blue Mountains home in Blues des Montagnes Bleus, which Moen wrote for the choir and which brings the house down at local gigs. Other gems include an ode to a loyal Parisian garbage truck and a love song to a tea cosy.
Songs range from cabaret to blues, jazz and folk music – VOILA! like genre-defying, but if you need a genre put a little je ne sais quoi in your Paris café.
