Inspired by the suave, urban Nuyorican and Cuban dance bands of the 1970’s, Malo Malo is one of the leading original salsa bands on the international stage. They’ve headlined at the Sydney Salsa Palladium for the past four years, were featured at Melbourne’s Johnson Street Festival in 2017 and 2018 and have toured multiple times to Colombia with special guests from Grupo Niche and Hermanos Lebron.

Malo Malo Orquesta is gaining notice around the world with their popular original recordings, β€œEl Robo”, β€œTombola” β€œDerecho,” β€œRitmo Caliente,” β€œAcuarela,” and β€œCharanguita” Their repertoire also includes classics by Eddie Palmieri, Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz and Ray Baretto. A strong jazz influence enriches the various latin rhythms including son, cha cha cha, rumba guaguanco and the occasional bolero.

Malo Malo bandleader and pianist Danny G Felix is also a member of the famous Orquesta Calibre based in Cali, Colombia, β€œthe world capital of Salsa.” He has co-written and featured on recordings of some of Calibre’s biggest international hits, including “Charrupi” a
collaboration between Calibre and the Barcelona-based Tromboranga.
