Peter Long

Peter Long is an Australian musician, composer, songwriter, recording engineer and music educator, based in the Blue Mountains region west of Sydney. His music has been described variously as “eerie spacious pop-rock” and his music arrangements possessing a “transcendental aura”.

His latest recording, released under the name immed8, Sounds Of In-Between, brings together voice, instruments and found sounds in a mesmerising collage of sound and imagery. Each piece of music blends seamlessly into the next in a continuous unfolding of musical textures and sensations.

Peter’s solo album Midday Sun and the song ‘Melody’s Fate’ won Best Alternative Release in the 2007 Blue Mountains Music Awards. He performs regularly in venues in the Blue Mountains and Sydney in Paper Sun and the The Winstons and is also a member of the infamous mens acapella group The Spooky Mens Chorale, touring the UK in 2015.

A t present, Peter performs with The Winstons, Paper Sun and the Spooky Men’s Chorale and somehow manages to juggle two businesses, parental responsibilities and a PhD with music commitments. In 2014 he completed a first class honours degree in Music at Western Sydney University, also taking out the university medal and is currently undertaking research into the aesthetic role of spatio-temporal suspension in popular music and visuals.
